What can YOU do to stop prescription drug abuse?
Project Y.E.S., which is part of Student National
Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA), is dedicated to educating youth
about health issues that are relevant to them. Spreading the word about
medication safety to the local community helps promote a healthy
lifestyle. This web page was created so that members of the community
have a central means of accessing various resources to help combat prescription drug abuse.
Educate Yourself
The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), which is part of the National Institutes of Health, offers a science-based approach to teach those between ages 11 and 15 about how drugs act in the brain and body. PEERx is a tool to select a path to stop prescription drug abuse. Paths include holding assemblies; downloading iron-decals, posters, stickers, and wallpaper; writing a radio PSA; Sara Bellum Blog; and an interactive video in which teens can assume the role of a main character and select paths onscreen.
Check Yourself is a website where teens can take quizzes, play games, read personal anecdotes, watch educational videos, and get more information about drug abuse.

This website provides statistics to show the dangers of prescription drug abuse.
Become an Activist

Smart Moves Smart Choices, by National Association of School Nurses and of Janssen Pharmaceuticals, contains links for teens, parents, and educators. There is also a tool kit to help teens hold assemblies about prescription drug abuse.

The National Council on Patient Information and Education Coalition helps teens hold workshops for their peers regarding prescription drug abuse.
This PDF allows teens to download and print customizable bulletin board panels.

Above the Influence inspires teens to overcome drug abuse by seeing and watching true stories about other teens rising above drug abuse.
