Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacology
Scientific journals, especially
in the field of medicine and pharmaceutical sciences, have gradually narrowed
the focus and specialization of new discoveries. After being reported it takes a good amount of
time for a new development in pharmacology to be noticed by other related
disciplines in pharmaceutical sciences or specialized pharmacology journal.
There is a disconnect among
different related disciplines of pharmaceutical sciences in terms of scientific
information sharing. We are very excited that one of our UF faculty members;
Dr. Arindam Basu Sarkar is taking initiative to address that disconnect by
introducing a new journal titled; “Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and
Pharmacology”. The journal is intended to cover all disciplines and
challenges in science, technology and engineering that contribute to the
development of newly improved drug molecules and their uses including pharmaceutical
aspects.

Scope of
Pharmacy Practice in U.S.
Dr. M. Chandra Sekar, Associate Professor for the College of Pharmacy, started the new year by making an invited presentation at the St. Peter's Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Warangal, Andhra Pradesh, India.
The title of Dr. Sekar's speech was "Scope of
Pharmacy Practice in U.S.". This presentation was attended by about 150
students and faculty members. The Pharm D. program was only approved by the
Government of India in 2008 and opportunity such as this, for the
students and faculties for interaction with experienced pharmacist from
other countries is a great opportunity!
