TA11-01                Jean Cunningham, Pharm. D., B.C.P.S.
                              Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice  

Description:      (Full-Time position)

TA will be assisting to facilitate day-to-day operations of the College of Pharmacy Medication Therapy Management Consultation Center (MTMCC).   TA will help further develop skills required of a competent pharmacist.  Student will facilitate classroom instruction, projects, assignments, and recitations and provide supervised feedback to undergraduates. TA will assist with per diem pediatric order set reviews and continue to organize additional MTM opportunities with local employers.  TA will also facilitate Van Wert Hospital educational opportunities and other special projects given by pharmacy faculty.  

Specific Qualifications:  Qualified pharmacy student in the 5th year curriculum.   

TA11-02        Dr. Cara Davies                   
                      Assistant Professor of Health Sciences, PA Program

Description:   (Part-Time position)

TA will assist Instructor of Record in providing supervision and instruction of cadaver dissection for all scheduled lab sessions for each scheduled course.  TA will also provide individual tutorial sessions outside of lab time for enrolled students which would include helping to identify structures in the cadaver and neuro-anatomy labs.  TA will assist Instructor of Record with preparation of materials and care of the cadaveric specimens in the lab.  Other duties may also include assisting with laboratory exam set-up, minor classroom management tasks, and organizing and complete the end-of-term clean-up in the anatomy lab.  

Specific Qualifications:  Have a strong background in cadaver dissection, as well as neuroanatomical structures. TA needs to be able to “regurgitate” material as well as possess the ability to explain it to other students.  Student should have successfully completed the first year in the appropriate program.    

TA11-03        Tonya A. Dauterman, Pharm D.
                       Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice

Description:   (Part-Time position)

TA will be responsible for facilitating introductory pharmacy practice seminars during the fall and spring semester for PHAR 350, 351, 491, and 492.  Seminar topics include professionalism, assessment and communication.  TA would also assist with classroom material development, teaching, and grading.  TA would use grading rubric to evaluate pharmacy student’s portfolios and provide feedback.  Additional duties include preparation of IRB materials, grant applications, data collection, and abstracts or manuscripts for research projects conducted by the Director and Assistant Director of Experiential Education in the College of Pharmacy.  TA may also be required to collect clinical data at the Wood County Health Department.  

Specific Qualifications:  Qualified pharmacy student in the 5th year curriculum.     

TA11-04        Tara Beitzel

Description:      (Part-Time position) 

TA will be supervised in the Fall semester primarily by Tara Beitzel and will  be responsible for observing, facilitating and grading laboratory assignments in both OCTH 415 Group Dynamics and OCTH 312 Analysis of Human Occupation.  In addition to these responsibilities, the TA will assist in grading course assignments and exams for OCTH 415 and OCTH 312.                                 

TA will be supervised in the Spring semester primarily by Laura Schmelzer to assist with OCTH 474 Research in Occupational Therapy.  TA will be responsible for assisting in grading assignments, practicing interviewing skills, and facilitating qualitative data analysis exercises.  There will be additional opportunities to teach content if the TA is interested in developing the skills associated with this task.

Specific Qualification:  Student should be currently in the Occupational Therapy program.   

TA11-05                Hiroaki Kawamura, Ph.D.
                              Chair, Department of Language and Culture
                              Associate Professor of Japanese  

Description:        (Full-Time position)

TA will be teaching courses in the IELP under faculty supervision.  Other duties include observing office hours, providing additional oral practice within and outside classrooms for Communication course students, working at the IELP writing tutor lab with primarily non-native speakers of English, and attending IELP faculty meetings.                                                                 

TA will also assist in the Graduate TESOL program as a recitation instructor for linguistics based courses like BLMC 510, 540, 545, and 560.  Student will assist faculty with ESL outreach activities.  Assisting faculty with exchange programs with Japan, Korea, and Vietnam and other department events.  

Specific Qualifications:   Full time student in TESOL Graduate program, Native or near-native fluency in English, strong writing skills in English, and a strong academic record, professional work ethics.  Some background in teaching either independently or through at least one of our community service learning projects preferred.     

TA11-06                Hiroaki Kawamura, Ph.D.
                              Chair, Department of Language and Culture
                              Associate Professor of Japanese  

Description:        (Part-Time position)

TA will be teaching JAPN 120/120L (First year Japanese I & Tutorial) and JAPN 121/121L (First year Japanese II & Tutorial).  Will provide a tutorial to JAPN 220 (Second year Japanese I) and JAPN 221 (Second year Japanese II) students.  Assisting faculty with coordination of various experiential learning projects and assist by teaching English to Japanese students who visited UF through a short exchange program.  TA will be assisting faculty with exchange programs with Japan, Korea, and Vietnam and other department events.  

Specific Qualifications:  Strong oral and written skills in Japanese required.  Student must have a strong academic record, highly organized, and a professional work ethic.  Some teaching background and a culturally appropriate behavior preferred.   

TA 11-07         Farabee (F.D.) McCarthy, Ph.D.
                        Director of the Animal Sciences Center
                        Associate Professor of Equestrian Studies                                

Description:     (Full-Time position)

TA will be located at the new Dr. C Richard Beckett Animal Science building.  TA will primarily be responsible for coordinating and instructing students in the animal care portion of classes taught to freshmen, sophomores, and juniors.  TA may also assist in some lectures held in the Animal Science building.  TA will also be responsible for supervision of the scheduling and coordination of the feeding and care of the hundreds of animals in the program and developing activities that engage the students and improve the learning experience.

TA's primary responsibility will bein a teaching rold in both the arena and the barn, assiting in the instruction of the freshman class but with the possibility of involvement in the instuction of sophomore riding students as well.  TA may also assist the barn manager and/or barn foreman with duties in the barn; be utilized as a supervisor of students in the barn as well as support person and liaison between the barn manager and students; work with students who may have problems and issues with their horses in training; or work with the veterinarian and supervise the treatment of horses.

TA11-08                Gordon Gillespie
                               Asst.  Professor of Environmental Safety and Occupational
                               Health Management  

Description:  (Part-Time position)     

TA will be assisting faculty with curriculum development and laboratory setup for ESOH 100L Environment and Society Laboratory and BIOL 138L .   Student will calibrate equipment and validate measurements, conduct research concerning the latest field environmental laboratory methods; determination of appropriate equipment, and the organization and incorporation of all subsequent procedures into the course manual.  Teaching activities to be completed under faculty supervision include curriculum development, laboratory setup, teaching and supervision of the procedures in a laboratory and field setting, and providing assistance to the students in data reduction and interpretation.  

Specific Qualifications:  Students should be familiar with environmental sampling and analytical methods or familiar with industrial hygiene sampling and control methods.   

TA11-09                Jacqueline Connour, Ph.D.
                              Associate Professor of Biology  

Description:      (Part-Time position) 

TA will assist with teaching during some of the sessions for BIOL 322L Anatomy and Physiology I Lab and BIOL 323L Anatomy and Physiology II Lab.  TA will also prepare materials for the laboratories; help to prepare lab exams, assist students during open-lab study times, and grading.    

TA11-10            James A. Yaggie, Ph.D.Professor of Physical Therapy  

Description:      (Part-Time position)

Specific Qualifications:  Required to have a strong background in cadaver and neuro-anatomy and have successfully completed the first year in the DPT program. 

TA11-11          Lindsey BuddelmeyerAcademic Fieldwork Coordinator,
                         Instructor of Occupational Therapy  

Description:   (Part-Time position)

TA will assist in teaching for OCTH 415 Group Dynamics and OCTH 306 Functional Movement.  TA will also assist with research, scholarly work, and presentations involved with the University and the Alzheimer’s Association.  

Specific Qualifications:  Student should be currently in the Occupational Therapy program.   

TA11-12                Lucinda E. (Cindy) Bouillon, PT, Ph.D.
                               Professor, Health Science & Physical Therapy  

Description:       (Part-Time position) 

TA will assist in Applied Physiology and Gross Anatomy labs.  They would also be responsible for individual tutorial sessions outside of lab time for students which would include helping identify structures in the cadaver lab.  Additional responsibilities would be to assist the primary course instructor in set up time for the lab classes and exams.  TA will also be asked to assist with tutorials provided to area high schools and universities.  

Specific Qualifications:   Student has a strong background in cadaver anatomy and successfully completed the first year in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program.
