BSBS 320 Topics in Business Analysis

A critical role in project management is played by the business analyst.  Business analysts serve as the link between the business interests served by the project and the technology that will be employed to deliver the functionality required by it.

These workshops are designed to enhance the skills of those engaged in requirements elicitation and project management.  They provide a focused overview of both the "hard" and "soft" skills necessary for business analysis and an introduction to the processes included in the BABOKTM (Business Analysis Body of Knowledge) requirements cycle.  The workshops also provide an interactive capstone exercise that requires participants to demonstrate the skills they have learned and to apply those skills in a simulated project.

These workshops are compliant with the BABOKTM, Version 2.0 which has been prepared by the International Association of Business AnalysisTM (IIBA).  Offered 1 to 3 credit hours.  Repeatable up to six semester hours.

                                        BSBS 340 Topics in ITIL

The Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is a set of concepts and policies for managing information technology (IT) infrastructure, development and operations.  ITIL puts heavy emphasis on the alignment of IT to the business model, covering the entire IT service lifecycle of strategy, design, transition, operation, and continuous improvement.

These workshops introduce the lifecycle of managing IT services to assist the student in delivering on business expectations.  Utilizing an engaging, case-study-based approach to learning the core disciplines of ITIL best practices, these workshops also position the student to successfully complete the associated exam, required for entry into ITIL intermediate level training courses.  Offered 1 to 3 credit hours.

BSBS 360 Topics in Project Management

The Project Management Professional (PMP) certification has become a highly sought-after indication of professionalism in project management.  These workshops bring together the materials covered on the PMP exam into an easy to use, step-by-step method for efficient and effective exam preparation:

  • Learn the necessary concepts and definitions for the exam based on the PMBOK® Guide, Fourth Edition and other authoritative sources of project management literature
  • Apply the material in interactive assignments and exercises, again geared toward adult learners who learn by application
  • Review and measure your progress using review templates and practice exam questions

Each module contains sample questions and the workshop concludes with a 100-question sample test designed to allow participants to gauge the level of their preparation for the exam.  Offered 1 to 3 credit hours.  Repeatable up to six semester hours.
