William J. Butler Scholarship

• Awarded to undergraduate education majors who maintain a 3.33 GPA or better

• One scholarship awarded annually*

• Established by the friends and family of Bill Butler as a tribute to a man who so loved education and students

John and Marge Cindric Scholarship

• Awarded to education majors and members of the UF varsity baseball team who ​maintain a 2.75 GPA or better

• One scholarship awarded annually*

• Established by the family and friends of John and Marge 

Class of 1959 Scholarship

• Awarded to education majors with a 3.0 GPA or better

• One scholarship awarded annually*

• Established by the members of the Class of 1959 commemorating their 50-year reunion 

Betty Caskey Clopper Scholarship

• Awarded to students who rank in the upper quarter of their high school class who plan to major in elementary education with an emphasis in early childhood education and have a desire to teach preschool, kindergarten or grades one through three

• Two to three scholarships awarded annually*

• Established by Allen ’36 and Betty (Caskey ’36) Clopper

Doyne Frommer Scholarship 

• Awarded to full-time students in the College of Education majoring in special or general education who maintain a 3.0 GPA or better

• One scholarship awarded annually*

• Established by a dear friend of Doyne Frommer 

F.O. Eakin Family Scholarship

• Awarded to full-time education majors in their senior year of study who hold a 3.0 GPA or better

• One scholarship awarded annually*

Grace Leonard Farrell ’36 and Christina Taylor Florence ’94 Scholarship

• Awarded to students majoring in education who maintain a 3.2 GPA or better

• One scholarship awarded annually*

• Established by Edward and Melinda Taylor in memory of Grace Leonard Farrell, Melinda’s mother, and in honor of Christina Taylor Florence, Edward and Melinda’s daughter 

John W. ’14 and Hester (Powell ’19) Grimm Education Scholarship

• Awarded to students with a declared major in the teacher education program within the College of Education

• One scholarship awarded annually*

• Established by Hester Powell Grimm in 1992 

Barbara Rieck Heminger Scholarship

• Awarded to education majors with a 2.8 GPA or better

• Three to four scholarships awarded annually*

• Established by Mr. and Mrs. William E. Ruse to perpetuate Barbara's legacy and memory and the joy and happiness she brought to so many people  

Pam Hyland Scholarship

• Awarded to sophomores, juniors or seniors majoring in teacher education

• One scholarship awarded annually*

• Established by friends and family of Pam Hyland

Lorain Bilingual Scholarship 

• Awarded to Hispanic/Latino students graduating from Lorain City Schools or transferring to UF from Lorain Community College who plan to enter the teaching field in a bilingual setting and who have a major/minor in a language other than English, and have a major/minor in education or plan to seek teaching credentials after graduation

• Number of awarded scholarships depends on number of qualified applicants

• Established by the Nordson Foundation, the Stocker Foundation and the Greater Lorain Foundation

Larry L. and Joann M. Miles Scholarship

• Awarded to education majors with an emphasis in English/language arts and/or reading endorsement

• Three to four scholarships awarded annually*

• Established by the family and friends of Larry L. and Joann Miles to honor Joann’s passion for the promotion of reading and literacy

Multicultural Master’s Degree Scholarship

• Awarded to education professionals enrolled in at least two courses in the master of arts in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) and bilingual education program

• Three to four scholarships awarded annually*

Michael W. Murphy Scholarship

• Awarded to students majoring in English/education

• Two to three scholarships awarded annually*

• Established by the friends and family of Michael W. Murphy in his memory

Dr. Jean C. Nye Memorial Scholarship

• Awarded to students enrolled in the intergenerational studies program at UF

• One scholarship awarded annually*

Robert M. and Catherine M. Pritts Scholarship

• Awarded to education majors who have a 2.75 GPA or better

• One scholarship awarded annually*

• Established by Robert and Catherine Pritts 

Janet Maule Swartz Scholarship

• Awarded annually to elementary education majors who have demonstrated financial need and have a 2.5 GPA or better

• One scholarship awarded annually*

• Established by Dr. Stanley L. Swartz ’70 in honor of his wife, Janet Maule Swartz ’70, for her dedication to educating young people 

Marie G. Sweitzer Scholarship

• Awarded to a nontraditional student intending to enter the teaching profession

• One scholarship awarded annually*

• Established in memory of Marie G. Sweitzer, the mother of  Dr. Beth Sweitzer-Riley, in honor of her dedication to the teaching profession

Maurice and Reva (Staley ’36) Terry Scholarship

• Awarded to education major who are graduates of (in order of preference) Upper Sandusky High School, a Wyandot County high school or an Ohio high school
