The Oiler Experience Weekend will be a very busy and sometimes
overwhelming weekend. Listed below are a few tips to get you through the
weekend:
Tip #1: Don't be late. Please check in
at the scheduled times. If you do not check in during these times, you
can pick up your orientation information at the Orange and Black
information booth located on Cory Street Mall next to the Bell Tower,
starting at noon on Friday, Aug. 17.
Tip #2: Don't lose your name badge!
The name badge you receive at check-in will contain your service
project assignment for Saturday, Aug. 18. If you aren't sure where you
have to be, don't worry. All offices, orientation leaders and staff will
have classroom listings. Just ask them. Morning service projects are from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Afternoon service projects are from 12:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Tip #3: Complete The Oiler Experience Checklist. Use this time to pick up or purchase your books, finalize
your paperwork in the Business Office, activate your Oiler OneCard,
pick up your parking pass or wander campus to locate your classes. Note: All of campus will be open during The Oiler Experience — hours are:
- Thursday, Aug. 16: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Friday, Aug. 17: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Saturday, Aug. 18: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- Sunday, Aug. 19: Noon – 4 p.m.
Tip #4: If you don’t know, ask somebody.
All offices, orientation leaders and staff will have information
concerning The Oiler Experience weekend. Don't be afraid to ask any one
of these representatives your question and they will be glad to point
you in the right direction.
Tip #5: Have fun, be open-minded and meet new students! The Oiler Experience is the perfect opportunity to meet new students from around the world. This
weekend is designed for you to familiarize yourself with campus,
faculty and staff, and other students. Take this time to get to know as
many people as possible.
