Profile
A communication professor, coach and consultant, Jeanette brings to Findlay 14 years of communication management experience in nonprofit and corporate public relations. Career highlights include establishing an in-house advertising and public relations agency for a major real estate developer, planning and implementing a million-dollar award-winning grand opening campaign, and coordinating national and regional media for two State Department visits at The Ohio State University. Her work has received numerous regional and national awards. She specializes in nonprofit PR and is regularly invited to conduct training across the U.S., including recent seminars in Philadelphia, Cleveland and Charleston, S.C.
A passion for learning drew Jeanette to teaching, and she’s been enjoying it for the past decade. Teaching at Findlay for eight years, she founded a national award-winning student chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. She returned to Findlay after launching a successful master’s program in public relations at Kent State, where in just two years she helped to double graduate enrollment. Students at both universities have cited her as “someone who made a difference.”
Outside the classroom, Jeanette keeps an eye on food—from farm to fork—how we talk about it, how we think about it and how we fight over it within the larger context of sustainability. Her research draws on expertise in environmental communication, framing and social justice. Her work has been published in recent textbooks on communication activism, communication ethics and public relations education.
