Profile
Dr. Elizabeth Raker is the Program Director for Middle Childhood Education. She holds a Michigan Continuing Teaching Certificate for Music Education grades K-12, a
ll subjects K-8, and English 9-12. Elizabeth teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses for the College of Education in Assessment/Evaluation for MC, AYA, and MA; General Methods for AYA & MA; Social Studies Methods for MC and AYA; Capstone Seminar for MC.
Before joining The University of Findlay, Elizabeth taught middle school social studies and language arts for the Summerfield Schools in Petersburg, Michigan. Dr. Raker serves the university as a member of the Faculty Senate, Academic Policy Advisory Committee, and is the chairperson of the Faculty Affairs Committee.
Professional Activity
Dr. Raker is a member of the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, Phi Delta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, The National Middle School Association, The Ohio Middle School Association, The Ohio Professors of Middle Level Education, The National Council for the Social Studies, The Ohio Council for the Social Studies, and The Michigan Geographic Alliance.
Dr. Raker serves on the Executive Board of the Ohio Middle School Association, is a grant reader for the Ohio Middle School Association, and is the University Liaison for that organization. Additionally, she serves on the Executive Council of the Ohio Professors of Middle Level Education and works as a Teacher-Consultant with the Michigan Geographic Alliance. Dr. Raker is also a NCATE/NMSA trained reader of Middle Childhood Programs for the Ohio Department of Education.
Recent Publications and/or Performances
Dr Raker has presented at national conferences including the National Middle School Association Symposium on Teacher Preparation, AACTE, and National Council for the Social Studies Great Lakes Regional Conferences. She has presented at several state-level conferences including The Michigan Council for the Social Studies, The Michigan Reading Association, The Ohio Council for the Social Studies, and The Ohio Middle School Association.
