SummerStock Season Opens June 23

The University’s professional theater series, SummerStock,
will open its 2010 season June 23 with “Thoroughly Modern Millie.”
The
first production runs at 8 p.m. June 23-25, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. June 26 and at
2 p.m. June 27.
“The
Little Shop of Horrors” is the second production in the series. It runs at 8
p.m. July 14-16, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. July 17 and at 2 p.m. July 18.

are available. Call the UF Box Office at 419-434-5335. Season tickets are $25.
Purchased separately, tickets for each show are $15.
“Thoroughly
Modern Millie” invites audiences to experience the age of flappers, jazz and
big-city glamour. Based loosely upon the film starring Julie Andrews and Carol
Channing, the 2002 musical garnered 11 Tony Award nominations and took home the
prestigious Best Musical prize.
An
affectionate musical spoof of 1950s sci-fi movies, “The Little Shop of Horrors”
tells the zany tale of Seymour, a down-on-his-luck florist, and his mysterious,
exotic and hungry plant. As Seymour’s prosperity grows, so does the plant’s
appetite! A silly and lighthearted satire, “The Little Shop of Horrors”
playfully explores the price of fame.
SummerStock at The University of Findlay has been setting the
standard for professional theater in northwest Ohio since 1977. SummerStock
uses a core professional company and supplements with an adjunct company of
undergraduate interns and high school apprentices.
