Nearly 300 students graduated from The University of Findlay during fall commencement ceremonies at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, in the
Koehler Complex on campus.

Daniel J. May, Ph.D., vice president of academic affairs, gave the commencement address. May joined the University in 1991 as an
assistant professor and has served in his current position since 2004.

“... this is also the day at which graduates formally commence the next stage of a journey of self-discovery, one which we hope you will enjoy every day for the remainder of your lives,” he said.
May talked about many of his own experiences beginning with his first professional job after college in Tucson, Ariz, and concluded, “Education can substitute for some experience, but real learning begins as you choose and reflect upon the experiences which will educate you each and every day for the rest of your life. You will need more teachers and mentors and ministers to continue to assist you. Note that they come in all guises and from stations above and around and below you.”

than 130 graduate degrees were awarded, and more than 135 undergraduate
degrees were awarded, including approximately 20 bachelor of arts degrees
and approximately 115 bachelor of science degrees. In addition, nearly
20 associate of arts degrees were conferred.

Among the UF graduates are approximately 65 international
students who received master’s degrees and three international students who received bachelor’s degrees. Those students represent the countries of
Nepal, Taiwan, China, Japan, India, Ghana, Korea and Venezuela.
The
University’s
traditional Arch Ceremony immediately followed commencement at
the Griffith Memorial Arch.
