Wienermobile To Visit UF

Findlay, Ohio, Jan. 24, 2000 – The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile will roll into The University of Findlay on Friday and Saturday. The vehicle will be located at the Koehler Fitness and Recreation Center on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. and at Croy Physical Education Center on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Wienermobile is 27 feet long, 10.5 feet high, eight feet wide and weighs 10,000 pounds. It contains a hot dog-shaped glove box and instrument panel, a 27-inch color television, relish-colored seats, seating for six, wireless microphone and a sunroof.

The first Wienermobile was a 13-foot metal hot dog on wheels used to transport the company spokesperson beginning in 1936.

The visit by the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile coincides with several athletic events at UF this weekend. On Friday and Saturday, the Alltel Indoor Track Invitational will be held in the Malcolm Athletic Center. Friday night will feature the UF men’s hockey team taking on the University of Alabama-Huntsville in the Clauss Ice Arena at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the UF women’s and men’s basketball teams will compete in a doubleheader with Ashland University at Croy Gymnasium at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

During the visit by the Wienermobile, the public is invited to take tours of the vehicle. Items such as stuffed toys will be given away.
