Findlay, Ohio, April 19, 2000 – The University of Findlay will hold its 32nd International Night on Friday, April 28, from 7 to 11:30 p.m. in the Koehler Fitness and Recreation Complex.
The theme of this year’s event is “Take a Piece of the World.” Display booths will be set up, and the International Café will allow visitors to sample food from all over the world. Countries that will be represented include: Bolivia, Cambodia, Canada, China, Columbia, D.R. of Congo, France, Haiti, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Puerto Rico, Russia/Uzbekistan, Spain, Taiwan, Tanzania, Thailand, Tibet, United States, Venezuela and Vietnam.
The evening will begin with the opening ceremony at 7 p.m., followed up the Japanese Choir doing an afternoon tea at 7:30 p.m. At 7:50 p.m., a classical ballet will be performed, and the international fashion show will begin at 8 p.m. The Tejano Dancers of Texas and Mexico will perform at 8:20 p.m. At 8:30 p.m., the Korazon de Mexico Dancers, a Mexican folkloric dance group from Toledo, will perform. The evening will continue with a Tae Kwon Do demonstration by Korean students at 9:15 p.m., and the Bejing Opera of China at 9:35 p.m. and Taichi Quan from China at 9:45 p.m. Bhangra of India will be featured at 9:55 p.m., and Venezuelan Dancers will perform at 10:15 p.m. A dance will close out activities beginning at 10:30 p.m.
A program will be held during the day for school children from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
International Night is free and open to the public.
