Poets to Give Reading at UF

Findlay, Ohio, April 3, 2000 – Poets Maggie Anderson and David Hassler will give a poetry reading at The University of Findlay Tuesday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mazza Collection Galleria, Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion.
Anderson and Hassler are editors of Learning by Heart: Contemporary American Poetry about School. A book singing reception will follow the reading in the Malcolm Dining Room. They will also be conducting workshops throughout the day.
Anderson is the author of five books of poems. Her most recent book is Windfall. She taught for 10 years as a poet-in-the-schools in West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Currently, she is an associate professor and director of the Wick Poetry Program at Kent State University.
Hassler is the author of Sabishi: Poems from Japan and editor of April Seeds Dreaming of Sky, an anthology of poetry by first and second graders. He is the co-editor of A Place to Grow: Voices and Images of Urban Gardeners. He works as a poet-in-the-schools for the Ohio Arts Council and is associate artist for Shaker Heights High School theatre department in Cleveland.
