Findlay, Ohio, June 20, 2000 – "Back to Bacharach & David," "Charley’s Aunt" and "A Christmas Carol," a musical adaptation, will be the three shows presented as a part of SummerStock 2000 at The University of Findlay.
"Bach to Bacharach & David" will be performed July 12-15 at 8 p.m. in Egner Theatre. Conceived by Steve Gunderson and Kathy Najimy, this show presents popular songs from the 1960s, such as "Alfie," "Walk On By," "The Look of Love," "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" and "What the World Needs Now is Love."
Lisa Paulsen of Tuscaloosa, Ala., will direct the show, with Michelle Winemiller of Houston, Ohio, serving as assistant director. Joey Bellmaggio of Bowling Green; Jennifer Blevins of Winston-Salem, N.C.; Julie Wogan of Oak Lawn, Ill.; and Lauren Musaus of Rome, Ga., will serve as vocalists. Joy Hannah Willis of Amherst, Va., is the dance captain for the show. Susan Michelle Smith-Parker of Lakeland, Fla., is set and light designer.
"Charley’s Aunt" by Brandon Thomas will be performed July 19-22 at 8 p.m. in Egner Theatre. Mistaken identity and professions of love abound in this classic comedy favorite. Two young college men have their friend pose as "Charley’s Aunt" from Brazil to chaperone an evening with two young ladies. This romantic comedy is full of twists and turns as the real aunt arrives.
Kathi Ellis of Louisville, Ky., and originally from England, will serve as director. Assistant director is Angela Kyte of Bluff City, Tenn. Cast members include Branan Whitehead of Highland, Ky., as Spettigue; Bellmaggio as Charley; Alexis Lundy of Rome, Ga., as Amy; Willis as Donna Lucia; and Wogan as Kitty. Set designer for the show is David Dawson of Tyler, Texas.
"A Christmas Carol" will be performed July 26-29 at 8 p.m. and July 30 at 6 p.m. in Egner Theatre. This musical adaptation for the stage of the story by Charles Dickens, with book and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick and music by Michel Legrand, is SummerStock’s celebration of Christmas in July.
Fred Rubeck of Elon College, N.C., will direct the show, with Laura Fitzsimmons of Hicksville, N.Y., serving as assistant director. Cast members include Whitehead as Scrooge, Bellmaggio as Fred, Lundy as Christmas Past, Blevins as Charwoman, Willis as Mrs. Fezzi, Wogan as Fred’s Wife and Musaus as Mrs. C. Parker will also serve as set designer for this show.
Artistic director for SummerStock 2000 is Jerry Deall of Findlay. Box office manager is Francie Deall of Findlay, with Elizabeth Ford of Casa Grande, Ariz., serving as assistant box office manager. Musical director for the season is Dirk VanBrussel of Findlay. Other technical staff members include: Michelle Brogden of Absecon, N.J., as assistant stage manager; Dawson as technical director; John-Michael Lundberg of Atlanta, Ga., as assistant technical director; Allen Winemiller of Houston, Ohio, as shop foreman; Parker as lighting designer; Gretchen Raymond of Findlay and Rhonda Meyer-Smith of Findlay as costume assistants; Jessica Willis of Saluda, S.C., Julio Garcia of LaJoya, Texas, and Jesus Ochoa of Mission, Texas, as carpenters; and April Walker of Mount Blanchard and Christine Hollington of Findlay as interns. Inna Pokras of Hampton, Va., and originally from Russia, will serve as costume designer.
