Environmental Bachelor’s Degree Completion Program Offered On-Line
Monday, July 17, 2000

Findlay, Ohio, July 17, 2000 – The University of Findlay’s bachelor’s degree completion program in environmental management can now be earned entirely on-line.

Students can complete the nationally accredited bachelor’s degree program via the Internet in just two years. Qualifying students must have their associate’s degree or 62 semester credit hours of course work completed. Students do not need an environmental background to qualify for the program. And, for those already in the environmental professions, this means the chance to stay home with family while continuing an education.

The degree completion program caters to two-years schools, developing articulation agreements to ease students’ transitions. The program focuses on a core of environmental courses while also providing several business courses and five general education courses.

The web-based courses in the bachelor’s degree completion program are structured in the same format as the current degree-completion program, which has been offered in Lima and Toledo for several years. Classes are offered in two eight-week blocks per semester. Courses are set up for eight distinct meetings, with accompanying weekly on-line chat sessions scheduled once or twice a week to give students at different locales a chance to interact. Chat sessions can be downloaded. In addition to electronic interaction, students receive packets of materials, videotapes and disks or CD-ROMs.

The program can be accessed through the University’s global campus at http://www.nceem.org/completion.html

The University of Findlay is a leader in the education of environmental, safety and health professionals. In 1986, UF was among the first colleges to offer a four-year degree for environmental professionals. In 1994, UF was nationally accredited to deliver the master of science degree in environmental management, which has evolved into the master of science in environmental, safety and health management.
