UF Announces Senior Forum Schedule

Findlay, Ohio, Sept.13, 2000 - The University of Findlay will hold its fall Senior Forum on Wednesdays, Sept. 27 to Nov. 1.

Senior Forum is a socially and intellectually stimulating learning experience for people age 50 and older. It offers non-credit classes with no tests or required reading.

Each day consists of sessions in the morning and afternoon as well as lunch lecture. Sessions are independent of each other.

Morning sessions include "Outreach to Africa" by Thomas Brumley on Sept. 27; "Seeing the Holy Land" by Louis Stulman on Oct. 4; "Making Travel More Than Tourism" by Libby Hostetler on Oct. 11; "Mapping the Brain" by Jeff Frye on Oct. 18; "The Practical Computer" by Kathy Coppes on Oct. 25; and "Predicting Weather" by Scott Brown on Nov. 1.

Lunch sessions include "Long Term Care Insurance" by John Hiltner on Sept. 27; "BBB Update" by Richard Eppstein on Oct. 4; "What About Outhouses?" by Roy Bacon on Oct. 11; "What's New in Hospice and Home Care" by Connie Walters on Oct. 18; "Osteoporosis: The Silent Disease" by Deirdre Meyers on Oct. 25; and "Wellness After 50" by Eileen Kleinfelter on Nov. 1.

Afternoon sessions include "Trumpet Shall Sound" by Mel Harsh on Sept. 27; "A Vocal Recital" by Teresa Clark on Oct. 4; "A Walk in Agatha Christie's Garden" by Marilyn Mavis on Oct. 11; "A Piano Potpourri" by Alsbrook Smith on Oct. 18; "New York, New York" by Marie Louden-Hanes on Oct. 25; and "BGSU Opera Sampler" by Gene Dybdahl on Nov. 1.

Cost for the series is $57 for singles and $99 for couples. The fee for any single class or lunch lecture is $3.25 for singles and $5.50 for couples. A buffet lunch is available for an additional $4.50 per day, payable at registration, or participants may purchase lunch in the Alumni Memorial Union snack bar. A coffee/tea bar is provided all day at no charge to participants.

Free van transportation for participants 60 and older can be arranged by calling the Community Action Commission at 419-423-4780 at least 24 hours in advance. Car-pooling with current participants is also possible.
