UF Homecoming Planned For Oct. 7

Findlay, Ohio, Sept. 13, 2000 - "Orange & Black: Draw Me Back" is the theme for the 2000 Homecoming festivities at The University of Findlay on Saturday, Oct. 7.

The Alumni Homecoming Brunch marks the beginning of the planned activities from 8 to 11 a.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union. Presentation of the Distinguished Alumni Awards, honoring alumni who have made a difference through their careers and their respective communities, will be made at the brunch. Each attending member of the Class of 1950 will also be honored with a 50th Reunion Golden Diploma. Reunions for the Classes of 1950, 1975 and 1995 will also be held.

At 11:30 a.m., the annual Homecoming Parade through downtown Findlay will take place, followed by pre-game tailgate activities at Donnell Stadium from noon to 1 p.m. The Oiler football team will take on the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds at 1 p.m. Halftime of the football game will feature a performance by the Oiler Marching Brass, under the direction of Jack Taylor and Ron Cable, and the announcement of the 2000 Homecoming King and Queen.

Following the game, five different alumni gatherings will be held in the Alumni Memorial Union. Linda Peck will host a reception for alumni of the pre-veterinary medicine program. Richard Kern and John Hutson will host a history reception. An equestrian studies reception will be hosted by Cindy Morehead and Deb Day. Finally, Dwight Moody and Julie McIntosh will host a zoology/biology reception. More information about the special interest gatherings will be given at the Homecoming Brunch.

From 8 to 11 a.m. an Information Center will be open in the Alumni Memorial Union for guests to register their attendance, and from 10 to 11 a.m. the Glenn & Helen Stout Alumni Center, 1316 N. Cory St., will be open for self-guided tours.
