Findlay, Ohio, Sept. 5, 2000 – The University of Findlay’s Women’s Studies Program will sponsor a presentation titled “Close Encounters of the Safer Kind” Tuesday, Sept. 19, from 7-8 p.m. in the Malcolm Dining Room, Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion.

Shirley Cole, certified nurse midwife, will give a presentation regarding the most prevalent sexually transmitted diseases among teens and young adults. The presentation will also focus on prevention, testing and treatment. Special focus will be given to the Human Papillovirus and its treatment, prevention and relationship to pre-cancers.

Cole has more than 35 years of experience in obstetrics and gynecology. She is a nurse midwife, physician’s assistant, lactation consultant and childbirth educator. She has attended the Toledo Hospital School of Nursing, The University of Findlay, the University of Toledo Medical College of Ohio and the University of Michigan. She currently practices with Dr. Alan Tong in Findlay.

The event is free and open to public, and refreshments will be served.
