UF Young Authors’ and Artists’ Conference Approaches

Findlay, Ohio, Feb. 23, 2001 — The 2001 Mazza Young Authors’ and Artists’ Conference is Saturday, March 31, 2001, at The University of Findlay Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion from 8:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

This year’s featured speakers are Denise Fleming and Rod Snow. Fleming is a native of Toledo and works primarily in paper, creating images by pouring colored paper pulp through hand-cut stencils.

Snow is a ventriloquist, magician and artist who graduated from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Mich. He performs throughout the United States and is a member of the North American Society of Ventriloquists and the Fellowship of Christian Magicians.

The purpose of the conference is to encourage students to write, illustrate and enjoy books. The Young Authors’ and Artists’ Program provides recognition and reward to accomplished writers and illustrators in the Findlay City and Hancock County Schools.

The program begins with registration from 8:45 to 9:00 a.m., Denise Fleming from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m., Mazza tour and refreshments from 9:45 to 11:15 a.m., Rod Snow from 11:15 to noon and autographing by Denise Fleming from noon to 1:00 p.m.

Space is limited to 25 students and five adults per school. All registration forms must be received by March 23. Only students in grades 1-5 may attend.
