UF To Present "Little Shop of Horrors"

Findlay, Ohio, Feb. 7, 2001 — The University of Findlay will present "Little Shop of Horrors" on Feb. 21-24 at 8 p.m. and Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. in Egner Theatre.

The show tells the story of Seymour, a meek florist’s assistant who comes across an unusual plant which appears after a total eclipse. Seymour finds that, in order for the plant, Audrey II, to grow, he must feed it, but the plant has a hankering for blood. Seymour tries to feed his plant by cutting his own fingers, but Audrey II wants much more.

The show is directed by Vicki McClurkin and choreographed by Barb Hennigs. Scenic and lighting design and design of the original Audrey II plant is by Jerry Deall, while Kathy Newell is in charge of costume design. Music director is Jay Clark. Deall is also serving as technical director, and Sara Hingson is assistant director. Other members of the production staff include J.J. Ladd, Selene Gerdner and Donita Krauss, hair; Sarah Hackert, stage manager; Michele Brogden and Kristi Delaski, assistant stage managers; Jeff Dean, live audio mixing; Tony Kanavage, light board operator; Meredith Steudle, props master; Shannonjo Keneske and Jessica Lee, props run crew; Erika Rinka, costume crew; and Jenny Camburn, Melissa Dziejman and Corey Woodcock, run crew. Set construction, painting and lighting were done by Brian Berheide, Michelle Brogden, Jenny Camburn, Kristi Delaski, Melissa Dziejman, Julio Garcia, Tony Kanavage, Andrea Shuck, Matt Stimmel and Corey Woodcock.

Cast members for the show include the following: Randy Tobin as the customer, Daren Lee as Seymour, Josh Hilborn as Mushnik, Keith Gutierrez as Orin, Brian Treece as Audrey II, Matt Dennis as Bernstein, Snip and Luce, Susan Grady as Audrey, Natalie Soto as Pat Martin, Ikuko Ono as Wino and Meredith Board as Interviewer. Supreme members are Megan Lyon, Jill Ogle, Caitlin Newell, Jill Stone, Tamara Hansen and Nina Bachmann.

A First Nighters event will be held on Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. in the Great Lape Hall, Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion. This free event will feature Jerry Deall discussing the details of how he constructed Audrey II for this performance. Please call Anne Hermiller at 419-434-6610 to RSVP for First Nighters.
