UF Announces Winners of the Juried Student Art Exhibition

Findlay, Ohio, April 5, 2001 – The University of Findlay has announced winners of this year’s Juried Student Art Exhibition.

First place awards were given to the best piece in each category. The award winners, by category, are: in painting, Sachiko Kawamura for Morning Dew; in drawing, Jenifer Trottier for Nobility; in printmaking, Anne Petrosky for The Way to San Marco; in ceramics, Alicia Foley for Petal Vase; in sculpture, April Smiley for Hunter; in design, Jon Gaberdiel for Evening Flowers; and in photography, Barbie Blankenship for Church View. The “Best of Show” award was for Blue’s First Interest, a painting by Jenifer Trottier. Also, there were a number of honorable mentions.

The exhibition displays to the campus and community what has been happening in the art program during the past year and gives The University of Findlay art students an opportunity to have their work objectively judged in a competitive situation. Art program faculty judged the show. The awards judge was Jack Quisno ‘85, an art teacher from Liberty-Benton High School.

The exhibition will be on display weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through April 27 in the Dudley and Mary Mark Lea Gallery, located in the Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion. The exhibition consists of 116 works in a wide range of subject matter.
