Findlay, Ohio, Aug. 27, 2001 —Scott Hayes has been named as director for The University of Findlay’s theatre program and artistic director for UF’s SummerStock.
Hayes earned his bachelor of fine arts degree in 1991 from the University of California at Santa Barbara and his master of fine arts degree in 1994 from Florida State University/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training.
Previously, Hayes was an assistant professor and assistant program head at Florida State University/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training. He also worked for a time as an adjunct instructor at New College/University of South Florida at Sarasota. He has also worked in London and Dublin.
Hayes has extensive experience both as an actor and director. His work has been seen throughout the United States and abroad. His film work includes "The Pallbearer" with David Schwimmer and "Hidden Fears" with Meg Foster and Frederick Forrest. He has also done television work on "Law and Order" and "Central Park West."
Some of Hayes’ favorite theatrical experiences include playing the title role in "Will Rogers Follies" as well as productions of the musical "Blood Brothers," Agatha
Christie’s "The Mousetrap," a nation-wide tour of "The Little Prince" and the pre-off Broadway production of "My Way – A Tribute to Frank Sinatra."
Hayes’ directing and combat credits include the operas "Carmen" and "Tales of Hoffman," as well as Shakespeare’s "Two Gentlemen of Verona," "Crimes of the Heart" and Shaw’s "Great Catherine."
He has written a biographical show about the author John Steinbeck with the approval of the Steinbeck estate, numerous short dramas for churches around the country and the book for "His Eyes of Love," a musical about the life of Christ which is slated for publication in 2002.
Hayes is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and Actors Equity Association, the professional stage and screen union for actors.
He and his wife, Sarah, have twin daughters, Emma and Abigail.
