Findlay, Ohio, Sept. 24, 2001 – The University of Findlay has selected John Fahl as the Dana Chair Executive-in-Residence for the 2001-02 academic year.
The chair was established through a gift from the Dana Corporation to strengthen ties between the academic and practicing sides of the business community.
In his capacity as Dana Chair, Fahl is teaching in the College of Business and serving as a guest lecturer in classes throughout the University. He is also serving as adviser for outstanding undergraduate business students who are designated as Dana Scholars by the College of Business faculty.
Fahl is the retired president of tire operations at Cooper Tire & Rubber Company, a position he held since 1994. Prior to that, he was vice president of purchasing from 1978-94 and corporate director of purchasing from 1966-78.
Professionally, Fahl is a member of the American Chemical Society, the Rubber Manufacturers Association and the Akron, Chicago and Ft. Wayne Rubber Groups.
He was a director with Cooper Tire & Rubber Company and now serves as a director with Rurban Financial Corporation, Peoples Banking Company, United Way of Hancock County and Black Swamp Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He was the 1999-00 United Way general campaign chairman and is a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church. Fahl has been a member of the UF Board of Trustees since 2000.
Fahl attended Dennison University and has completed the Bowling Green State University and the Harvard University Advanced Management Programs.
He and his wife, Janet, have three children, Terry, Nancy and Jeffrey.
