Enrollment Up at UF

Findlay, Ohio, Oct. 4, 2001 -- Enrollment at The University of Findlay increased two percent overall for the fall of 2001, posting a new record enrollment for the 19th consecutive year.

Total enrollment for full-time and part-time undergraduate and graduate students is 4,586 for 2001, compared to 4,511 for fall 2000. Full-time enrollment of students in 12 semester hours or more of credit classes is 2,896, with 1,690 students attending part-time.

The University admitted its second largest entering class in the history of the institution with 634 first-time, full-time freshmen.

The fall full-time class also includes 93 transfer students, 14 students re-entering college after an interruption in their studies and 52 non-traditional students, for a total of 793 new full-time undergraduate students. There are 170 new part-time undergraduate students enrolled this fall. The total number of new undergraduate students stands at 963.

Contributing to the growth in enrollment this year was the increase in the graduate programs, up 15 percent from 2000 for a total of 1,205 students. Particularly, the master of business administration program saw an increase of 16 percent over fall 2000, with 474 students enrolled this fall. Also, the master of science in environmental, safety and health management program showed a 12 percent increase, with 125 students enrolled, and the master of arts in education program increased three percent, with 453 students enrolled this fall. International student enrollment in UF graduate programs increased 67 percent over fall 2000, with 211 international students enrolled in graduate programs.

Off-campus undergraduate degree completion programs saw an increase of 22 percent, with 225 students now taking classes.

Certain undergraduate academic programs at the University also enjoyed significant increases in enrollment this fall. The technology management program realized a 23 percent increased over fall 2000, while the mathematics program is up 83 percent. Other large increases were seen in the following academic programs: criminal justice, up 10 percent; business administration, up 12 percent; education, up seven percent; and nuclear medicine, up 58 percent.

There are currently 426 international students from 40 countries studying at The University of Findlay. This is an increase of 29 percent over fall 2000.
