Findlay, Ohio, Oct. 8, 2001 — "I Believe…" is the theme for the 2001 Homecoming festivities at The University of Findlay on Saturday, Oct. 27.
The Alumni Homecoming Brunch marks the beginning of the planned activities from 8 to 11 a.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union. Presentation of the Distinguished Alumni Awards, honoring alumni who have made a difference through their careers and their respective communities, will be made at the brunch. Each attending member of the Class of 1951 will also be honored with a 50th Reunion Golden Diploma. Reunions for the Classes of 1951, 1976 and 1996 will also be held.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Fall Family Fair will take place next to Donnell Stadium. Attendees will be able to take part in inflatable rides and attractions, on obstacle course, nine-hole miniature golf course and midway games with prizes.
At 2:30 p.m., the annual Homecoming Parade through downtown Findlay will take place, followed by pre-game tailgate activities at Donnell Stadium from 3 to 4 p.m. The Oiler football team will take on the Saginaw Valley State University Cardinals at 4 p.m. Halftime of the football game will feature a performance by the Oiler Marching Brass, under the direction of Jack Taylor, and the announcement of the 2001 Homecoming King and Queen.
At 7:00 p.m. the classes of 1936 through 1970 will have a fellowship reunion dinner in the Alumni Memorial Union. Reservations for this event are necessary in order to attend.
At 7:05 p.m., the UF men’s hockey team will take on the Niagra Purple Eagles in Clauss Ice Arena. Tickets are available at the door.
An Information Center will be open throughout the day in the Alumni Memorial Union for guests to register their attendance. Self-guided tours will be held at the Glenn & Helen Stout Alumni Center, 1316 N. Cory St., throughout the day.
