Mazza Artwork Dedicated to Sept. 11
Wednesday, November 28, 2001

Findlay, Ohio, Nov. 28, 2001 — The University of Findlay’s Mazza Collection of original artwork from children’s picture books has had one of its pieces of art dedicated to the Sept. 11 tragedy.

“Take Me Out to the Ballgame,” a watercolor by Maryann Kovalsky, was dedicated at a memorial tribute sponsored by the Best Friends Foundation in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 7. The event honored the memories of three children and three teachers who were killed when the airplane they were flying in hit the Pentagon on Sept. 11. The children and teachers were from three different schools in the Washington area.

The Best Friends Foundation was founded by Elayne Bennett, wife of former Secretary of Education William Bennett. Best Friends is a program for girls that provides developmentally sound curriculum in an education setting that promotes fun, companionship and caring.

In addition to Elayne Bennett, the memorial tribute was attended by Laura Bush, wife of President George W. Bush, and various members of the Mazza Collection staff.
