Findlay, Ohio, Jan. 15, 2002 — A community riding open house will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the James L. Child Jr. Equestrian Complex, 11178 County Road 201, Findlay.
Tours and demonstrations of The University of Findlay’s English riding program will be held at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. Those attending can speak with riding instructors and gather information on the University’s new community horseback riding program, which promotes health, wellness and responsibility.
The 42-acre James L. Child Jr. Equestrian Complex, just four miles south of main campus, houses facilities for the English equestrian program. The complex includes two indoor arenas, an outdoor sand ring and a grass jumping field. The facility accommodates more than 140 horses, and there are many grass turnout paddocks, some with loafing sheds and automatic waterers. Seven wash stalls, several tack rooms and a large classroom are conveniently located inside the stall barns. Students may be viewed from the comfort of a heated viewing lounge overlooking the large arena.
Admission is free, and programs will be distributed to those who attend. A concession stand will be available.
The open house is sponsored by UF’s Grand Prix Club, an organization designed to promote and support the English equestrian program and intercollegiate team.
