New Secretary, Two Student Representatives Named to UF Board of Trustees

Findlay, Ohio, May 6, 2002 — The University of Findlay Board of Trustees named C. Sue Pirschel as its secretary and Stacy Lynn Brown and Matthew McClure as new student representatives at its meeting May 2-3.

Pirschel replaces Kathleen Crates as secretary of the board, although Crates continues as a member of the board.

Serving as executive assistant in the President’s Office at The University of Findlay since 1989, Pirschel has also served as secretary pro tem of the UF Board of Trustees since that time. She attended Bowling Green State University.

Active in her community, Pirschel serves as vice president of the board for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Hancock County and as a member of the Crawford United Methodist Church. Professionally, she is a member of the National Association of Presidential Assistants in Higher Education.

She and her husband, Mike, live in Findlay. They have three grown children and four grandchildren.

Stacy Lynn Brown of Maumee is serving the Board of Trustees as its graduate student representative. She is a legal assistant/paralegal with Eastman & Smith, Ltd., a position she has held since 1995. Prior to her current employment, she worked as a legal secretary/legal assistant at The Bolotin Law Offices.

A 1990 graduate of Bowling Green State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a specialization in pre-law, Brown also earned a certificate in legal assisting from the University of Toledo Community and Technical College in 1992.

Currently, Brown is a student in the master of arts in education program at The University of Findlay. She anticipates graduating in 2003.

Matthew J. McClure of Liberty Center has been named the undergraduate student representative of the Board of Trustees. He is a junior political science and criminal justice major with a minor in law and the liberal arts at The University of Findlay. He carries a 4.0 grade point average.

In addition to his studies, McClure is a member of the University Honors Program Advisory Board and a Student Government Association delegate, where he served as sophomore class president. He is the treasurer of the University Law Society and is a member of the Residence Life staff. McClure is also an organization leader for University Campus Crusade for Christ and is head of the Campus Improvement Committee for Student Government Association.

McClure is a volunteer with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Hancock County and is a volunteer assistant track coach at Liberty Center High School. He also helped in construction the Liberty Center High School Spring Sports Complex.

In other action, the following trustees have been re-elected to each serve an additional three-year term on the board: James Appold, John Burson, Frank Cosiano, Craig Crotteau, Mary Dissinger, Dennis Foster, Richard Hollington, Don Manley, Edward Rosenberry, George Schroeder, Charles Spragg, Richard White, George Whitson and Richard Wilkin.

Officers were also elected, each for a two-year term: Richard Beckett, chairman; Richard White, vice chairman; Charles Spragg, chairman of the executive committee; Frank Cosiano, vice chairman of the executive committee; Sue Pirschel, secretary; and Martin Terry, treasurer.
