Mazza Museum Receives Grant
Friday, June 21, 2002
Findlay, Ohio, June 21, 2002 — The Mazza Museum at The University of Findlay has received a 2002 Conservation Assessment Program grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services and Heritage Preservation.
The Conservation Assessment Program assists museums by providing funds for professional conservation and preservation specialists to identify the conservation needs of their collections. Professional conservators will survey the site and write a comprehensive report that will identify conservation priorities. The on-site consultation will enable the Mazza Museum to evaluate its current collections care policies, procedures and environmental conditions. The assessment report will help the museum make appropriate improvements for the immediate, mid-range and long-range care of the collections.
Started in 1982 with just four pieces of artwork valued at $1,700, the Mazza Museum, which is the first and largest teaching gallery in the world specializing in the art from children’s books, now contains more than 2,000 pieces valued at more than
$1 million.
