UF Theatre Season to Open with “The Winter’s Tale”
Tuesday, September 10, 2002

Findlay, Ohio, Sept. 10, 2002 — The 2002-03 theatre season at The University of Findlay will open with “The Winter’s Tale” Oct. 2-5 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. in the Egner Center for the Performing Arts television studio.

Five theatre program majors – Joshua Hilborn, Megan Lyon, Matt Harris, Chelsea Riggs and Brian Berheide – will portray more than 18 roles in one of Shakespeare’s more unique and subtle romances.

Magical statues, wild bears, young lovers and jealous raging tyrants combine to make this one of Shakespeare’s most entertaining and memorable favorites as well as an audience favorite. Using subtle gestures, body movements and voice modulation rather than elaborate costumes or sets, five actors will convey all the action and shifts of character.

“The Winter’s Tale” marks UF’s first performance in the television studio. With the increase in theatre majors, Scott Hayes, director of the theatre program, saw the need to accommodate more actors in additional productions. The television studio is being used as a flexible black box studio theatre.

Tickets for the show are $5 for adults and $3 for students and are available by calling 419-434-4531.

Additional shows for the 2002-03 season include “The Diary of Anne Frank” Nov. 13-17, “Tony ‘N Tina’s Wedding” Dec. 6-7, “The Mystery of Edwin Drood” Feb. 15-23, “Redeeming Love” March 19-22 and “Our Town” April 9-12.
