Findlay, Ohio, Sept. 30, 2002 – The University of Findlay has selected F. Alan Blackburn as the Dana Chair Executive-in-Residence for the 2002-03 academic year.
The chair was established through a gift from the Dana Corporation to strengthen ties between the academic and practicing sides of the business community.
In his capacity as Dana Chair, Blackburn is teaching in the College of Business and serving as a guest lecturer in classes throughout the University. He is also serving as adviser for outstanding undergraduate business students who are designated as Dana Scholars by the College of Business faculty.
Blackburn is executive vice president of Fifth Third Bank in Toledo, a position he has held since 1991. Previously, he held various positions at Fifth Third Bank in Findlay from 1981-1991, including vice president of commercial loans, executive vice president of retail and commercial lending and president. Fifth Third of Findlay merged with Fifth Third of Toledo in 1991. Blackburn was also assistant vice president of Huntington Bank in Columbus from 1973-81.
Experienced as an instructor, Blackburn was a part time instructor for Columbus State and the American Institute of Banking.
A 1969 graduate of Bowling Green State University with a bachelor’s degree in personnel management, Blackburn went on to earn his master of business administration degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati in 1978. He also attended the Stonier Graduate School of Banking in 1989.
Active in his community, Blackburn is a member of the board of St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center Foundation, Greater Toledo Chapter of the American Red Cross, Greater Toledo Convention and Visitors Bureau and Perrysburg Schools Foundation.
He resides in Perrysburg, Ohio.
