Strahm Named Vice President

Findlay, Ohio, Sept. 5, 2002 — Richard “Dick” Strahm has been appointed vice president of institutional advancement at The University of Findlay.

He is responsible for managing the University’s fundraising activities and external programs, including annual giving; major gift planning; development services; alumni and parent relations; university relations; web services; and special projects.

Strahm has been working in the position on an interim basis since November 2001. Prior to that he was a special assistant to the president since June 1999.

Former head football coach for The University of Findlay, Strahm’s career has been filled with success. He led the Oilers to four NAIA national championships and 14 league championships in his 24 years as head coach. He was the only football coach to be named NAIA Coach of the Year four times and coached 38 All-Americans and 16 Academic All-Americans.

With a career record of 253-83-6 and a UF record of 183-64-5, Strahm was inducted into the Rawlings/NAIA Football Hall of Fame, Libbey High School Hall of Fame, UF Athletic Hall of Fame, Hancock Sports Hall of Fame, Toledo City Athletic Hall of Fame and Toledo Chapter National Football Foundation Hall of Fame. He was named Citizen of the Year in 1985 by the Findlay Civitan Club and received the Others Award from the Salvation Army in Findlay in 1998 for his service to his players and others in the community.

Prior to coming to UF, Strahm held head coaching positions at Lakota, Bryan and Warren Western Reserve high schools.

A 1957 graduate of the University of Toledo, he also served as defensive coordinator at UT and was the defensive backfield coach at Kansas State for two seasons before accepting the Findlay position in 1975.
