Homecoming Activities Planned at UF

Findlay, Ohio, Sept. 6, 2002 — “Return to the Magic” is the theme for the 2002 Homecoming activities at The University of Findlay Sept. 27 and 28.

The weekend will begin on Friday, Sept. 27, from 7 to 9 p.m. with an alumni social gathering at Waldo Pepper’s in downtown Findlay.

Events will continue on Saturday, Sept. 28, with the Alumni Homecoming Brunch from 8:30 to 11 a.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union, where awards will be given and the annual meeting of the Alumni Association will be held.

Also at 8:30 a.m., the Theta Chi Scholarship 5K will begin at the Koehler Fitness and Recreation Complex. Registration begins at 8 a.m., with a Kids’ Fun Run at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K at 9 a.m. Entry fee is $7 for the kids run and $15 for the 5K run. Proceeds will benefit the Theta Chi Endowed Scholarship Fund.

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Stout Alumni Center will be open for alumni and visitors to stop, have refreshments, reminisce and pick up a campus map.

A Family Equestrian Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the James L. Child Jr. Equestrian Complex on Country Road 201. Sponsored by the Regional Alumni Club, this event will feature riding instructions, demonstrations and activities for children.

The tailgate event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Donnell Stadium. Alumni receive a free box lunch, with guest lunches available for $5 each. Reservations are necessary.

Two athletic events will be featured during Homecoming this year. The football team will take on Michigan Tech at 1 p.m. at Donnell Stadium, while the women’s volleyball team will compete against Hillsdale College at 1 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.

At 6 p.m., a Fellowship Reunion Dinner will be held in the Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion for alumni and their families. Graduates whose class years end with two or seven will receive a dinner for half price. Reservations are necessary.

The Evasons, magicians and entertainers, will perform at 8 p.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union Multipurpose Room. Tickets are available for $5 for one ticket and $10 for a guest ticket. Call the Office of Student Activities at 419-434-4606 for ticket information.
