Findlay, Ohio, Oct. 4, 2002 — The University of Findlay has recruited its largest class of new students for the fall of 2002. The class numbers 1,074 students, up 12 percent from the fall 2001, which saw 963 new students.
New student enrollment for fall 2002 includes 880 full-time and 194 part-time students. Of the new full-time students, 773 are freshmen, 98 are transfers and nine are re-entering after an interruption in their studies. Of the new part-time students, 152 are freshmen, 33 are transfers and nine are re-entering after a interruption in their studies.
Overall enrollment for the fall of 2002 stands at 4,586, the same as in the fall of 2001. This number includes 3,389 undergraduate students and 1,197 graduate students.
Key growth areas in undergraduate programs include an 11 percent increase in off-campus undergraduate degree completion programs. Other programs that experienced growth are: business administration, up 11 percent to 324 students, pre-veterinary medicine, up 20 percent to 158 students, education, up seven percent to 449 students and equestrian studies, up seven percent with 245 students.
On the graduate side, significant increases were seen in the master of physical therapy and master of occupational therapy programs, which realized 49 percent and 140 percent growth, respectively.
