Auditions Set for UF’s Edwin Drood

Findlay, Ohio, Nov. 19, 2002 —Auditions for The University of Findlay’s production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood will be held Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 2-3, at 7 p.m. in room 209 of the Egner Center for the Performing Arts.

With book, music and lyrics by Rupert Holmes, The Mystery of Edwin Drood is based on the unfinished novel of the same name by Charles Dickens.

Those auditioning should be prepared to sing a song of 16 bars, do minimal choreography and possibly read from the script. An accompanist will be provided. On Tuesday, call backs will be held, with additional singing, reading and a focus on choreography required.

The script and recording for the show are on reserve at UF’s Shafer Library.

The show calls for 24 parts, nine for women and 15 for men. The number of roles could be increased to 40 depending on auditions. Individuals are also needed for lights, sound, props, set construction and running crew.

The Mystery of Edwin Drood will be staged at UF Feb. 19-23, 2003.
