UF To Host Jazz Artist

Findlay, Ohio, Dec. 5, 2002 —The University of Findlay will host saxophone jazz artist Lenny Price Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union.
Price has toured with Earl Klugh, opened for Natalie Cole and performed with The Temptations. He has appeared on Melrose Place and recorded on 26 different albums.
Price was first introduced to Findlay when he performed as part of a musical program for a Chamberlin Hill School fundraiser about 6 years ago. During this trip to Findlay, he will team up with Findlay City Schools and Hancock County Schools, lecturing on the history and evolution of jazz. He will demonstrate using his instruments and entertain and motivate students throughout the morning. In the afternoon he will be working with student musicians who will guest appear at his concert Tuesday night.
Price received his bachelor’s degree from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. From his admiration for the Naval Academy he created. Under the Midshipman Records label, he released his solo debut From my Heart, which was listed on the 1991 Grammy nomination ballot in three categories.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door for $5 each. All proceeds will go to Cancer Patient Services in honor of Lenny’s mother, Thelma Price. For information, call 419-434-4606.
