UF to Host Presentation

Findlay, Ohio, Jan. 21, 2003 —The University of Findlay’s religious studies and women’s studies programs will host Azza Karam, director of the women’s program at the World Conference on Religion and Peace, for a presentation on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union, Multi-Purpose Room.

The presentation is titled “Transnational Political Islam and the U.S. War on Terror.”

Karam has worked with organizations on women’s and human rights in the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia and Western Europe. She has conducted training in cross-cultural communication, conflict mediation and gender sensitization for organizations such as the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the United Nations Development Program.

Karam has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the American University in Cairo, Egypt, a master’s degree in development studies from the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague and a doctorate from the University of Amsterdam.

The presentation is free and open to the public.
