Findlay, Ohio, March 3, 2003 — The University of Findlay’s instrumental music program will host its annual Jazz Fest on Saturday, March 29, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Grimm Theatre, Egner Center for the Fine Arts.

Nine high school bands will compete for awards in best overall performance as well as top soloist honors for individuals. Judges for the event will be Norm Damschroder, a UF faculty member; David Tippett, a freelance jazz trumpeter from Toledo; and Jack Taylor, director of bands at UF.

The program will include a performance by The University of Findlay Jazz Ensemble, directed by Damschroder and Taylor, followed by a special guest appearance by the Toledo Jazz Orchestra, directed by Dave Melle. The judges will be featured as soloists with the jazz orchestra.
