Schott Heads Alumni & Parent Relations

Findlay, Ohio, April 24, 2003 — John C. Schott has been named executive director of alumni and parent relations at The University of Findlay.

Previously, Schott had worked as a development officer in the Office of Institutional Advancement since 1998. He served as director of development for Blanchard Valley Health Association during 1998 and was director of resource development for Winebrenner Village Health Care Facility from 1990-98.

From 1987-90, Schott worked for UF, as director of development and assistant athletic director. He also worked at Findlay College from 1964-66 as sports information director.

Schott was a customer relations specialist for Hi-Tek Lighting Corporation from 1985-87 and worked in marketing for Sommer Metalcraft Corporation from 1973-85. From 1970-73, he was director of alumni and placement and director of special promotions for Wabash College. He was a public relations specialist for Battelle Memorial Institute from 1969-70 and for Denison University from 1966-69.

A 1968 Findlay College graduate with a bachelor’s degree in speech/sociology, Schott spent four years in the Navy and continued his education in inventory and materials management at the University of Wisconsin in the mid-1970s.

In addition to his career, Schott has also been involved in the community, serving as a volunteer with the American Cancer Society and United Way. He has been involved with the boards of Kiwanis Club, Group Homes, Arthritis Foundation, Youth Service Bureau and Sugar Creek Theatre. He is a member of the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy and the American Research Association. He is a member of the First Lutheran Church in Findlay, where he has served as a deacon and lector.

Schott and his wife, Marjorie, reside in Findlay.
