Findlay, Ohio, June 16, 2003 — “There’s No Place Like Home” is the theme for SummerStock 2003 at The University of Findlay July 2-Aug. 3.
SummerStock 2003 will feature three shows – My Way – A Tribute to Frank Sinatra July 2-5 at 8 p.m. and July 6 at 6 p.m., Greater Tuna July 16-19 at 8 p.m. and July 20 at 6 p.m. and The Wizard of Oz July 30-Aug. 2 at 8 p.m., Aug. 2 at 2 p.m. and Aug. 3 at 6 p.m. All shows will be held in the John and Hester Powell Grimm Theatre in the Egner Center for the Performing Arts.
My Way – A Tribute to Frank Sinatra is by David Grapes and Todd Olson. The audience is invited to take a trip down memory lane and relive the musical legacy of one of America’s greatest icons. This enchanting musical revue includes 60 of Sinatra’s hits, including “Fly Me to the Moon,” “Strangers in the Night,” “That Old Black Magic” and “New York, New York.”
Jaston Williams’ and Ed Howard’s Greater Tuna revolves around two actors who portray all 20 citizens of Greater Tuna, Texas’ third smallest town, where the Lion’s Club is too liberal and Patsy Cline never dies. Greater Tuna’s success has launched multiple sequels, include A Tuna Christmas and Red, White and Tuna.
The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum, with music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by E.Y. Harburg, is a classic. After a tornado whisks her to the magical land of Oz, Kansas farm girl Dorothy Gale teams up with a Scarecrow, a Tin Woodsman and a Cowardly Lion to avoid the clutches of the Wicked Witch of the West to find the mighty Wizard who can send her home.
Scott Hayes is serving as producing artistic director of SummerStock and will also be artistic director for The Wizard of Oz. Resident technical designer is Jerry Deall, Kristi Funk is the box office manager. Sound designer is Jeff Dean and music director is Chad Sterns. Kathy Newell is costume designer, assisted by Caitlin Newell, Jodi Wurst and Amelia Falcsik. Jen Bates and Kim Blair are choreographers. Master electrician is John Aldridge, with James Baker, Satoshi Fujie, Tomeka James and Andrew Spanberger serving as carpenters. Technical director is Danny Harrington, and Kristi Delaski is production stage manager. Assistant designer is Dawn Reens, and shop assistant is Satoko Komazawa. Allison Esposito is also part of the crew. My Way – A Tribute to Frank Sinatra will be directed by Dan Bright, and Greater Tuna will be directed by Diane DiCroce.
Actors for the shows include J.T. Arbogast, Jen Bates, Kim Blair, Greg Foro, Stuart Landon and David Levine. Serving as interns are James Baker, Andrea Coto, Matt Harris and Gregg Wozniak. Sean Miller and Michael Williams are apprentices.
Those playing the role of Munchkins for The Wizard of Oz include Lauren Alt, Lorhel Bomber, Sarah Bomber, Eric Chaftin, Eric Glaze, Whitney Goller, Alicia Humphrey, Abbey Moyer, Hannah Reiss, Anna Sankovich, Anna Scaible, Averie Vogue Scites, Kayln Starkey, Lydia Stump and Zoe Thompson.
