Homecoming Activities Planned at UF

Findlay, Ohio, Sept. 9, 2003 — “Oiler Pride Rings Again” is the theme for this year’s UF Homecoming Sept. 19-20.

Highlights of the weekend include a performance by Galumpha, Inc., on Friday at 8 p.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union. Tickets, which are $10 for adults and $5 for children, are available by calling the Office of Student Activities at 419-434-4746.

The Alumni Homecoming Brunch will be held Saturday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union. Joseph J. Camillone ‘68, V. Ruth McDowell ‘51 and Dr. Darrel F. Linder ‘43 will be honored as Distinguished Alumni. Marian Lowe will receive the Old Main Award, and Anthony Thompson will be honored with the Gold Medallion Award.

Dedication of the Old Main Bell is set for 11 a.m. Saturday on the Cory Street Mall. This project represents a gift from the classes of 1953 and 2003 to UF.

From 1 to 4 p.m. at the James L. Child Jr. Equestrian Complex, the Family Equestrian Festival will be sponsored by the Alumni Association. Pony rides, wagon rides and jumping demonstrations will be featured.

Steve’s Dakota Grill Night Tailgate will begin at 4:30 p.m. at Donnell Stadium. Dinner tickets are $5, and restaurant vouchers will be given to the first 2,000 people through the gate.

The Oiler football team will take on Northwood University at 6 p.m. on Saturday, with halftime activities including a performance by the Oiler Brass marching band and announcement of the Homecoming King and Queen.

Other athletic activities throughout the weekend include women’s volleyball at 7 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday, women’s soccer at noon on Saturday and men’s soccer at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
