Findlay, Ohio, Dec. 23, 2003 – The University of Findlay has selected David S. Healy as the Dana Chair Executive-in-Residence for the 2003-04 academic year.
The chair was established through a gift from the Dana Corporation to strengthen ties between the academic and practicing sides of the business community.
In his capacity as Dana Chair, Healy is teaching in the College of Business and serving as a guest lecturer in classes throughout the University. He is also serving as adviser for outstanding undergraduate business students who are designated as Dana Scholars by the College of Business faculty.
Healy was owner of Spencer Patterson Insurance in Findlay for 25 years, having retired in 1996. He also sold commercial insurance and medical malpractice insurance for the company. He served as president of the Findlay • Hancock County Chamber of Commerce for a time as well.
Prior to his work with Spencer Patterson, Healy was regional manager for Maytag from 1966-71, representing 20 counties. He also previously worked at 3-M and Bendix Corporation in New Jersey.
A graduate of Hanover College with a bachelor’s degree in business, Healy is a member of the Independent Insurance Agents Association.
Active in his community, Healy is a member of the Community Foundation and Hancock Parks Foundation boards, is past-president of the Arts Partnership of Greater Hancock County and the Findlay Rotary Club. He has been a deacon, elder, trustee and choir member at First Presbyterian Church.
An avid sailor, Healy also sings in a barbershop chorus and barbershop quartet called Just 4 Fun.
He and his wife, Susan, have three children and two grandchildren.
