Nationally-Known Speaker To Lecture on School Success

Findlay, Ohio, Jan. 29, 2004 — William Purkey, a counselor educator and nationally-known inspirational speaker, will give a lecture on “Inviting School Success” Wednesday, Feb. 4, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Winebrenner Theological Seminary TLB Auditorium.

Professor emeritus of counselor education at the University of North Carolina, Purkey is co-founder of the International Alliance for Invitational Education. His professional experience includes teaching in public schools and at universities as well as serving as an explosive ordinance disposal specialist in the Air Force.

The recipient of numerous awards for teaching, Purkey has authored or co-authored more than 80 professional articles and nine books, including Inviting School Success, The Inviting School Treasury and Invitational Counseling. His latest book is Becoming an Invitational Leader.

Purkey’s lecture is sponsored by UF’s College of Education and the Convocations Committee and is free and open to the public.
