“What Makes a Good Photograph?” is Subject of Lecture

Findlay, Ohio, Feb. 12, 2004 —Terry Barrett, Ph.D., professor of art education at The Ohio State University, will speak on “What Makes a Good Photograph?” Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the Pfeiffer Lecture Hall, Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion.

With expertise in the areas of contemporary art and photography, teaching art criticism and aesthetics and museum and multimedia arts education, Barrett has received the Distinguished Teaching Award for his course in criticism. He is the author of Criticizing Photographs: An Introduction to Images, Criticizing Art: Understanding the Contemporary and Talking About Student Art. Barrett is also the editor of the anthology Lessons for Teaching Art Criticism and former senior editor of the research journal Studies in Art Education. He has served as a visiting scholar to numerous colleges and universities and is a critic-in-education for the Ohio Arts Council.

Barrett earned his bachelor’s degree in art and philosophy from Webster College and his master’s and doctoral degrees in art education from The Ohio State University.
