Thursday, March 11, 2004
Findlay, Ohio, March 11, 2004 — The University of Findlay’s Campus Compact will host a Candidate Convention as part of the “Raise Your Voice” program Tuesday, March 16, at 7 p.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union, Multi-purpose Room.
The program will feature an information session where several students will showcase specific current issues in politics. Issues presented will include education and its costs, military involvement in Iraq and health care. Party stances on the issues will also be discussed. After the information is presented, the audience will be given the opportunity to discuss the issues.
Those present will also be able to register to vote or apply for an absentee ballot.
“Raise Your Voice” is sponsored by Campus Compact and funded by a grant from the Pew Charitable Trusts. It is a national campaign that hopes to establish a lasting student civic engagement. The campaign objectives are to increase college student involvement in public life, connect these actions with a larger national movement, highlight activities and issues important to college students, mobilize higher education to give students a stronger voice and make civic engagement central to service learning.
The Candidate Convention is free and open to the public.
