School for Scandal to Wrap Up Academic Theatre Season

Findlay, Ohio, April 5, 2004 — The University of Findlay’s theatre program will wrap up its academic season with performances of School for Scandal April 14-17 at 8 p.m. and April 18 at 6 p.m. in the John and Hester Powell Grimm Theatre, Egner Center for the Performing Arts.

An evening of twisted plots and witty characters awaits audiences in Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s classic comedy. A comic masterpiece of surprisingly up-to-the-minute relevance, School for Scandal offers an opportunity for husbands and wives, brothers, uncles and nephews and gossips of all stripes to be skewered. The 18th-century comedy is considered one of the classics in theatrical repertoire and has enjoyed several national and international revivals.

Directed by Scott Hayes, director of the theatre program, the show’s cast includes Kyle Kutchenriter as Sir Peter Teazle, Christine Hollington as Lady Teazle, Gregg Wozniak as Sir Oliver Surface, Caitlin Newell as Maria, Matt Dennis as Joseph Surface, Nikki Coe as Lady Sneerwell, Kurt Aller as Charles Surface, Chelsea Riggs as Mrs. Candour, Casandra Kent as Crabtree, Tim Provens as Sir Benjamin Backbite, Matt Harris as Rowley, Nick Toland as Moses, Andrea Coto as Snake, Alejandro Ramirez as Careless and Jennifer Brown as Servant. Companions to Charles are Jennifer Brown, Casandra Kent and Andrea Coto.
