Findlay, Ohio, June 17, 2004 – Young visitors to The University of Findlay are spending their summer vacations horsing around by participating in UF’s summer riding camps.
The Youth Western Horse Showmanship School is hosting youth ages 14 and up, along with their horses, June 20-25. Campers hail from all over Ohio, plus Michigan, West Virginia and Indiana.
During the six-day camp, young riders spend their days receiving riding lessons from the University’s equestrian staff, who focus on individual and group instruction. Lessons take place at UF’s western equestrian riding facilities, and evenings are spent on UF’s campus with games, swimming and further instruction.
The University of Findlay offers majors in western and English equestrian studies leading to associate’s and bachelor’s degrees. A 73-acre farm provides space for the western riding and pre-veterinary medicine programs, while the 42-acre James L. Child Jr. Equestrian Complex is home to the English riding program and University Equine Veterinary Services, Inc. UF’s English and western riding teams have both won national championships.
