Findlay, Ohio, June 25, 2004 – “Movies and Mysteries” is the theme for SummerStock 2004 at The University of Findlay July 7-Aug. 8.

SummerStock 2004 will feature three shows – Always… Patsy Cline July 7-10 at 8 p.m. and July 11 at 6 p.m., Wait Until Dark July 21-24 at 8 p.m. and July 25 at 6 p.m. and City of Angels Aug. 4-7 at 8 p.m. and Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. All shows will be held in the John and Hester Powell Grimm Theatre in the Egner Center for the Performing Arts.

Always… Patsy Cline, created by Ted Swindley, is based on the true story of Cline’s friendship with Houston housewife Louise Seger. Classic Cline songs such as “Walkin’ After Midnight,” “Sweet Dreams” and “Crazy” are interlaced with Seger’s tale of her friendship with the legendary country singer.

Frederick Knotts’ Wait Until Dark is a suspenseful thriller in which a mysterious doll brings together a blind woman, two ex-convicts and a criminal. Tension runs high throughout the play, culminating in the final act, which is staged in darkness.

City of Angels features music by Cy Coleman and lyrics by David Zippel; the book is by Larry Gelbert. In this musical set in 1940s Hollywood, novelist Stine writes a screenplay for a detective movie. Scenes from Stine’s real life are staged in color, while scenes from his developing movie are in shades of black and white.

Scott Hayes is artistic director for SummerStock, and he is also directing City of Angels. Hayes’ assistant is Matt Harris, who is also stage manager for Always… Patsy Cline. Other stage managers are Matt Waugh and Michele Burger, who is also production stage manager. Technical director is Andrew Southard and Jaclyn Hilborn is box office manager. Dan Hughes is music director and Kyle Stewart is lighting director. Scenic designer is Michelle Cook-Brown. Beth Steinberg is costume designer, assisted by Tony Smithey, Katina Higgins and Jodi Wurst. Troy Reineke is accompanist. Kurt Aller is properties manager. Yuko Nakayama is shop assistant. Carpenters are Christopher Andrus, Emily Anderson and Nick Toland. Joann Chase will direct Always… Patsy Cline and Jefferson Slinkard will be director for Wait Until Dark.

Actors for the shows include Sara K. Story, Katherine Smart, Gayle Lopez, Sean Kesckes, Nikki Marie Coe and Kalyn Starkey. Interns are Nikki Coe, Christopher Ikner, Anna Kirkland, Megan Long, Kyndall O’Neal and Christy Sabina. Emily Cain, April Kitchen and Shannon Scott are high school apprentices.
