Ohio Business Week Brings 125 High School Students to UF
Wednesday, July 14, 2004

Findlay, Ohio, July 14, 2004 – The University of Findlay is hosting 125 high school students this week as they participate in the Ohio Business Week program.

This is the tenth consecutive year that the program, which educates high school students about business and entrepreneurship, has been held at the University.

During OBW, which began July 11 and concludes July 17, participants meet with successful business leaders and create mock companies, in which teams of 10-12 students plot marketing, advertising, financial and growth plans.

At the end of the week, the teams present their plans to a panel of judges, who award the best plans in each category and best overall business venture.

The program is tailored to high school students who are interested in business, and each accepted participant receives a $400 scholarship to the program from a local business or service organization.

OBW participant Jasmine Johnson said she decided to attend the program to gain “last-minute pointers” before she starts her own business. Johnson, a Cleveland high junior, plans to sell gift baskets for various occasions. Johnson’s teammates elected her chief financial officer of their company, which is designing dishwashers that fit inside kitchen cabinets.
