Findlay, Ohio, July 29, 2004 – The third and final play in The University of Findlay’s SummerStock 2004 program, City of Angels, opens Aug. 4.
City of Angels will be staged Aug. 4-6 at 8 p.m., Aug. 7 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. in the John and Hester Powell Grimm Theatre in the Egner Center for the Performing Arts.
City of Angels features music by Cy Coleman and lyrics by David Zippel; the book is by Larry Gelbert. In this musical set in 1940s Hollywood, novelist Stine writes a screenplay for a detective movie. Scenes from Stine’s real life are staged in color, while scenes from his developing movie are in shades of black and white.
City of Angels stars Steve Snyder as Stine, Tony Smithey as Stone, Sara K. Story as Gabby and Bobbi, Katherine Smart as Donna and Oolie, Josh Hilborn as Buddy and Irwin and Gayle Lopez as Carla and Alaura. Other cast members include Matt Harris, Megan Long, Chris Ikner, Nikki Marie Coe, Kurt Aller, Matt Waugh, Nick Toland, Yuko Nakayama, Kyndal O’Neal, Jaclyn Hilborn, Emily Anderson, Anna Kirkland, Christy Sabina, April Kitchen, Katina Huggins, Shannon Scott and Jodi Wurst. Scott Hayes is the artistic director.
